Head to the Hills...

...Tama Hills, that is. Abbey had been asking to ride a horse like she did a few months ago, so we went to Tama Hills recreation area again. But this time, we stayed the night in one of their cabins. The cabins are relatively new, very nice, and have all sorts of things that 4-year-olds find very exciting, like a pull out couch, a picnic-style table, and a ladder on the wall going up to a loft! Never mind that Abbey didn't actually climb the ladder, she thought it was cool. We enjoyed having some laid back family time Friday night before a busy Saturday morning- playground time, a pony ride, and miniature golf (see the video in the post below).

What do you mean relax on the couch? This is so exciting!

Elliott was so glad we brought our shoes for her to play with.

Abbey rode Sakura the pony like a champ.
She was concentrating so hard she actually stuck her tongue out a little!

Our ever-so-rustic cabin.

Newman girls rock!

We had such a good time that Abbey didn't want to leave. Of course, this meant that she was very grumpy on the way home. (It didn't help that she wanted to go to sleep in the car but Elliott was screaming.) So between the whining, the crying and the traffic- it took over an hour to go 16 miles- the trip home was long and painful. But as soon as we pulled through the gate to get home, Abbey said in a sweet voice, "That was a great trip to Thomas Hills!"

Well, we didn't buy matching shoes on purpose, but it seems to have turned out that way! I'm just glad when he will wear something other than his 6 year old Doc Marten boots.

That looks like a fun trip! Are there any others y'all are going to try to get in before you move back to the States?

Tama is our home away from home----it's been awhile since we've been there though.

Glad you were able to get away and relax some. (next time take some carrots with you---they'll let you go into the stables to feed the horses!)
