The day started off with one of my very best presents- I woke up- on my own- at 7:00. SEVEN O'CLOCK and my children were not awake yet. They had slept all night and didn't wake up until 7:30! I am not sure if Elliott has ever done that before. It was wonderful!
Then on to the living room to see what Santa had delivered...
Elliott's expression says it all. Santa brought the girls a wagon that is big enough for them to both ride in and some outside toys. He left a note saying that he didn't attach the wheels so it wouldn't roll out of his sleigh. (Code for: Mom and Dad didn't get it out until 10 pm and realized there were 17 assembly steps.) The shopping cart was Elliott's "big" gift from us and Abbey's was a Polaroid Pixie camera. They also each received some books and stocking stuffers.
Hands off, Daddy!Of course there was a small fight and a few tears shed over who got to push the shopping cart around, but a breakfast of cinnamon rolls put everyone back in the Christmas spirit. Then my mom and Les arrived to spend the weekend with us. Both girls were so excited to see them- Abbey was pushing her presents for them into their hands before they even put their bags down!
Abbey Elf gives Nana a picture frame craft for them to work on together. She also made a "cookie jar" for Les (out of an oatmeal box).
We love the wagon- with or without wheels!We don't have a lot more pictures from Christmas morning but it was a great day. (Our camera was dropped on Tuesday and the digital screen doesn't work anymore, so we were lucky to get these! Chad and I are now getting each other a new camera for Christmas.) Chad and Les put together the wagon, we tried out all the new toys, and had a big dinner of chicken enchiladas, Spanish rice, corn, green beans and chocolate pie. Truly, the best part was being together all day- both girls were happy and in good moods all day- a true Christmas miracle! :0) And I loved seeing Abbey being excited about giving the gifts she had made or chosen for everyone.
I hope you all had a merry Christmas too and are getting ready for the new year.

Oh my goodness! Those pictures are soo cute! I love the one of them in the wagon with no wheels. And I had to enlarge the picture of Elliott looking at her basket. The expression on her face is priceless! Glad you guys had a wonderful day. And I wish you many more days of waking up BEFORE your girls!

What happened to the shopping cart Abbey used to have? We now have the one like Elliott got for Christmas because Sophia always liked playing with Abbey's in Japan. We also have a Hippo walker and my girls each push one around with a baby doll in it...it is the only way there isn't a crazy fight over the grocery cart!
What a Christmas morning! Santa sure is a sensible man... to think about not putting those wheels on. You wouldn't want the wagon to roll away after all.

That was so thoughtful of Santa to leave a note about the wheels, and a good idea to leave the wheels off - way to go, Santa! ;)
