A Berry Good Birthday

Elliott is 3! In typical Newman fashion, we celebrated her birthday more than once. The first time was the day before her birthday, when we drove two hours to meet my mom and stepdad at a "pick your own" strawberry farm. (Let the bad puns commence!)
This was our first time visiting a place like this, so I wasn't sure what to expect, and the weather was being so strange! The day before this, it had been about 93 and sunny- but for our berry-picking day it stayed cool and windy.

Elliott hangs on tight to her hood!

We've got our boxes and we're ready to pick strawberries!

Elliott is excited, but still not a fan of the wind.

"Mommy! I found a strawberry!"

It was a beautiful day, in a strange way. So nice to be out of the city for a while!

"Mommy, we're done."

There were other things to do besides picking strawberries. But first, we took our strawberries to be weighed and pay for them. Conveniently located by the cash register was some little containers of goat food.

Do you have something for me?

The girls liked feeding and watching the goats, donkeys and horses. They also rode the barrel train (a tractor pulling "cars" made from metal barrels) but I was too busy bouncing around on it with Elliott to take any pictures. And of course, we celebrated Elliott's special day! My mom brought a giant M&M cookie cake (sounds familiar!), party horns and presents for Elliott.

Tooting her own horn

Because the cookie cake clearly wasn't enough sugar, we also bought some farm-fresh homemade ice cream to enjoy, and some of their blackberry jam to take home.

Abbey gives it a thumb's up.
Elliott: "Abbey took my bite!"

It was a fun day. Thanks Mom and Les for setting it all up! Elliott felt very special and we all enjoyed it.
