Dim Sum for Everyone

Dim Sum for Everyone is a picture book by children's author Grace Lin. It is one of Elliott's favorites to get from the library. It shows a family going to their favorite restaurant to eat dim sum- little plates of all different kinds of Chinese dumplings, rolls, etc. Since we live in the land of the Enchilada, dim sum restaurants are few and far between, but I did find one. Unlike Elliott, Abbey will not eat anything at a Chinese restaurant, not even rice, so we took Elliott as a special treat one night when Abbey was with a friend. Elliott was so excited, didn't whine or fuss at all, and thoroughly enjoyed her meal.

With her dim sum- it was a soft dumpling with some kind of bean paste, in its own bamboo steamer dish.

Chad tried it, but he did not like it!

Sharing some egg drop soup with my adventurous eater.

Elliott loved her egg drop soup, ate all the shrimp out of our fried rice, and ate a few bites of her dim sum. She was thrilled to get her own fortune cookie, which read: "If everyone is a worm, be a glow worm." She did not believe me that's what it said! Funny girl. Chad and I enjoyed our dinner out with Elliott and hope to have dim sum with her again soon.

That is great that she will try new things! Looks like she really enjoyed her special time alone with mom and dad. :-)

So cute! It is hard to do, but so important to have that one on one time! Don't you love a child that will eat anything...what a blessing! :0)
